In 78 silent motion pictures 66 were one and two-reel shorts. She was famous for her role in Vitagraph six-reel feature drama, The Chalice of Courage opposite William Duncan. Myrtle Gonzalez was married to James Park Jones. Myrtle gave birth to a boy named  James Parks Jones Jr. But unfortunately the marriage didn’t last long and both of them got divorced in 1915. Few years later she got married to a famous actor and director named Allen Watt in Los Angeles. After the marriage she retired from her entertainment career. Myrtle met Allen when he was working as an assistant director in Universal. By the time of her marriage the US had entered into world war I and her husband Watt was an officer in the US army. He was placed at Camp Lewis near Tacoma, Washington. The health of was degrading due to the bad climate. Watt was placed into the retirement list so he could return to her wife. Myrtle died at the age of 27 years due to the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918. Nevertheless, according on research by author Fregoso, Gonzalez passed away from heart failure, which was brought on by a “severe fall suffered three years [earlier] while doing stunt riding in a photoplay.” At the time of her death she was at her parents home in Los Angeles.
